Jodie’s Bio

Cooper Studio - Jodie McGrath

“My road to becoming a professional photographer has not been a straight path! It all began in high school in our dark room, where I would often spend hours playing around on the enlargers, trying to push boundaries because I wanted different results to the rest of my class. I think one of my favourite challenges was an assessment involving mirror images – we were meant to take a photo leaning up against something and in the dark room we had to expose half the image, flip the negative over and expose the other half, thus creating a mirror image. Well I wasn’t content with doing just this, so ended up with four versions of my original image on the one print!

“I think it is this initial love that has seen me finally find my place in a career I love, after many years of trying everything else! (I have a Bachelor Degree and have worked in such diverse areas as the law courts through to the mines!) However, I believe that this crazy path I have been on has made me a better photographer as it has broadened my horizons and allows me to relate to a larger number of our customers through shared experiences.

“My other passions are horses (I currently own a gorgeous chestnut mare called Rosie) and ballroom dancing. I have also started to learn how to sew!
