Modelling portfolio & fashion shoots

jodiemcgrath News

We quite often get people of all ages coming in for photos to put in their modelling portfolio or those wanting more of a fashion shoot instead of straight beauty. This always proves to be great fun for us, as we get to play around with slightly different ideas compared to a traditional beauty shoot.

We recently had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Tanya and her gorgeous daughter Briana who is looking at getting into modelling. This experience is a great place to start and helps people wanting to get into the modelling industry gain some experience in front of a camera.

We also had a gorgeous fashion shoot with the lovely Emilie. She brought in a great range of outfits for us to play with!

If you would like to have a modelling or fashion style shoot, there are a few things that are good to think about in terms of what to bring in….

  • fashion photography is all about what you are wearing, so consider…
    • bringing in a few different outfits
    • lots of accessories… think
      • hats, fascinators, jewellery etc
    • shoes!
  • modelling portfolios should showcase your range, so consider….
    • the type of modelling jobs you hope to get
      • what outfits or accessories are best suited to that genre of modelling
        • aim for several different outfits/looks for variety in your portfolio
        • consider if you have any special talents that you want to showcase e.g. ballet and if you want to bring in a related outfit
      • body shots are often a good idea (for 18+) – if you would like some make sure you wear loose fitting clothes to the shoot to prevent marks from elastic etc cutting in
    • organising hair and makeup to ensure it is working to your best advantage! (we can sort this out if you ask us)
